Cumberland Youth Foundation (CYF)

CYF is the recreational outreach ministry of First Cumberland Presbyterian Church of Chattanooga. This ministry is made possible by the work of a planning team, a dedicated and caring staff, and volunteers who seek to serve God by providing youth, children, and families opportunity for recreation in a Christian atmosphere.
The CYF ministry encompasses:
- an Olympic size swimming pool with diving area
- toddler and baby wading pools
- eight lighted tennis courts
- a spacious, fully equipped playground
- a beach volleyball court
- a large covered pavilion and picnic area
- two baseball/softball fields
- the Day Players Program.
CYF MEMBERSHIP
For Church Members: FCPC members are encouraged to make a $100.00 donation for a seasonal family membership or pay $3.50 per person per visit. Scholarships are available and members may request information through the church office.
Non-Church Member: Community members who wish to purchase a seasonal family membership may do so for $150.00 or pay $4.00 per person per visit.
CYF memberships grant access to tennis courts, playground, softball fields, volleyball courts and swimming pool during normal pool hours.
Note: Families with a child in the Day Players Program recieve a CYF Family Membership at no additional charge.
HOW TO JOIN CYF
Visit the church office 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. to purchase your membership and receive your membership card. Or, you may print out the application provided here:

Fill out the application and either bring the completed form and payment to the office, or mail it to us with your check to the church office. A membership is good for one season.
SWIMMING
The CYF pool is 50 meters long with eight 25 meter lanes and has a connected diving area with a one meter diving board. In addition, there are two separate baby pools and plenty of deck space for sunbathing. Qualified lifeguards are on duty during normal pool hours and at all parties. Pool water is constantly monitored and meets all Health Department standards.
The pool opens on Memorial Day weekend May 27-28 for it's regular season
Regular Pool hours are:
12:00 noon to 7:00 p.m. - Mon., Tues., Thurs., Friday
12:00 noon to 6:00 p.m. Wed. and Sat.
1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Sunday
The pool will close at 4:00 p.m. on days there is a home swim meet.
For safety or weather reasons, the life guards may close the pool without advance notice.
SWIMMING LESSONS
Lessons are available for your child at a rate of $30.00 for 10 lessons. Call the church office to be put in touch with the swimming instructor.
COMPETITIVE SWIMMING:
In June and July the CYF competes as a member of the Chattanooga Area Swim League (CASL). The competitive swim program has daily practices and two swim meets per week. It is open to swimmers age 6 and up. Interested CYF members and Day Players are urged to join. Competitive experience is not required. Parental involvement is encouraged and volunteers to help work swim meets, concession stands, and perform other contributions are always needed and appreciated.

TENNIS:
Eight lighted tennis courts are available for the use of CYF members. The courts are open Monday through Saturday, but closed from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The courts are open Sunday from 1:00p.m. to 5:00 p.m. only.
OTHER FACILITIES:
To schedule use of either softball field, call the church office. No after dark use of the ball fields is allowed. No scheduling or fees are required for CYF members to use the beach volleyball court, play ground, or pavilion (unavailable weekdays 7:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.). BOOK A PARTY AT CYF!
CYF is a great place to a hold a birthday party, a family reunion, or just a fun get together. A two-hour pool party may be booked for $3.50 per person with a minimum of $100.00 for Church and CYF members.
Non-church or CYF members can book a paty for $4.00 per person with a minimum of $125.00.
Pool parties must be scheduled through the church office at least 48 hours in advance.
Because pool parties may only be scheduled during regular pool hours, exclusive use of the pool for your party is not guaranteed.
Payment is required when the party date is reserved.

DAY PLAYERS PROGRAM
At the heart of the CYF is a program for children age 6 to age 15. It is a ministry designed to assist working parents in providing a properly supervised program for their children. The counselors are carefully chosen for their experience with children and Christian ideals. A complete list of rules and guidelines to which Day Players participants are expected to comply will be supplied with the application.
The first day of the Day Players program for 2006 will be Tuesday, May 30. The closing day will be Friday August 4. Each day's activities will begin with supervision under the pavilion at 7:30 a.m. At the end of each day children are to be picked up at the same location by 5:30 p.m. Children must bring a lunch with them each day. Each child will be permitted to leave the play area only at time of departure and accompanied by their parent or designee. The activities in which the Day Players will participate include: organized group games, all types of ball games, Bible Club, parties, and special events. Also included are daily swimming, tennis lessons, table games and singing.

The CYF manager and the Day Players director reserve the right to deny any application. In this event, any fees paid will be refunded. Families with special needs children must meet with the director before applying.
GIVE YOURSELF A TAX BREAK
Neither CYF nor the Day Players ministries operate at a profit. They are dependant on fees received and benevolent giving. We welcome contributions in any amount from those who desire to aid in the ministry of the CYF. Your donation to the CYF is a tax deductible contribution. You may make a contribution directly to the CYF or to the Houston Stone Memorial Fund through the church office.
