Home of Troop 55

Since 1994 First Cumberland Presbyterian Church has been the home of Boy Scout Troop 55. They meet every Monday night at 6:30. This outstanding organization is responsible for the building of quality individuals by requiring the highest in values of today's young men. Troop 55 is no exception. They are providing both means and opportunity for boys to develop physically, mentally and morally. Numerous banners hang in the scout's room as a testament to this excellence.


Specifically, the BSA endeavors to develop American citizens who are physically, mentally, and emotionally fit; have a high degree of self-reliance as evidenced in such qualities as initiative, courage, and resourceful-ness; have personal values based on religious concepts; have the desire and skills to help others; understand the principles of the American social, economic, and governmental systems; are know- ledgeable about and take pride in their American heritage and understand our nation's role in the world; have a keen respect for the basic rights of all people; and are prepared to participate in and give leadership to American society.


Scouting is recognized nation wide as the exceptional organization for building men of character and leadership ability. Scouting highest award Eagle Scout, is recognized as individuals who exhibit the highest level of superior performance and perseverance. Approximately 4% of all boys entering scouting will attain this lofty goal. Do you have what it takes?


Scouting is a three tier system, Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, And Venture Scouting. Here at First Cumberland, we offer all three. The newest addition is is our Cub Pac. Meeting every other Monday at 7:00pm at the church. Cub Scouts are a family centered focus for boys in first through fifth grade, ages 7-10. There is always space available and more information is available in the church office.
